I am honored. What an accolade! I cherish the the depths of personal, process experience and Soul Gardening that brought Mystereum into being. I feel chords plucked on the harp of my heart-strings. They resonate for my creation’s journey as it has made its way so wonderfully out there in the world after it graduated from me. Kudos Mystereum! Thank you Marcus & Tali!
Jordan’s Journeys now has A new home at JordanHoggard.com! This is the flagship post out of the gate! I have a New Moon Blessing gift for you coming very soon.
There are more reviews, and I’ll post them in the upcoming weeks. I have 5 more that just floor me every time I revisit them. They will be in no particular order, as I resonate with them all, each differently. Like Mystereum says, All similar, each unique. And, The Sun extends, I’m you, as only you can be. Have fun with that one in your own ways as only you do. How were you particularly born to see?
Okay, let me first say THANK YOU to Schiffer Books for sending me Tarot in the Land of Mystereum by Jordan Hoggard.
Book Details
ISBN: 9780764336010
Size: 11 1/2 ” x 6″ x 1 1/2″
Illustrations: 78 color art cards + 192 page companion book
The box that this comes in is sturdy and has a magnetic lid. The book and the deck nestle in here very nicely. The colors are vibrant and the card backs are like looking out a picture window. (Well, that’s what I see anyway, you may see something totally different.)
The first thing I noticed is that these are not standard size cards, they are larger -no squinting to see what’s going on in the image. I’ve come to like larger cards so, this is just fine by me!
Before releasing the cards I took out the companion book and started reading…within seconds, I was smiling and hearing the words on the page come to life in Jordan’s voice! (This deck is all about your imagination after all…)
This book is so different from what you expect to see in a companion book! It’s truly entertaining and packed full of information. This is what I would call a “Story Book”. Okay, if you need a more grown up term for this, it’s a Novel with well developed characters.
It was hard for me to put the book down once I started reading, the story moves you right along through every single card in the deck! The “Imagination Tools” will serve you well and open your mind to new possibilities. The key words are given under the image of each card in the book, you will notice right away that these are very different than what you’re used to seeing…they have more depth and come from a totally different perspective than what you find in other books and decks. Many authors say they have a different approach to Tarot but, Jordan really does — and here’s the book to prove it! I can’t imagine how much time went into writing this book, it’s something every tarot reader should add to their collection.
Now, let’s talk about the cards! I mentioned they are larger than a standard deck but, not so large that you can’t handle them. The cards are sturdy and will last you a very long time.
I shuffled and shuffled…The Queen of Swords! I love what Jordan has done with this card-the three swords are forming a triangle around this Queen. She’s very focused. I wouldn’t say she looks annoyed, just very intense. I like that! No-nonsense! The Queen of Swords is one of my favorite images in this deck. I think this card shows how The Queen’s attitudes and intentions can sometimes be misunderstood. She isn’t mean, she just doesn’t believe in beating around the bush — direct is the way to go with this lady!
Look at this High Priestess. Is there anything that she doesn’t know?
These two cards represent what this deck will mean to me… how it will treat me and what I can expect. I think it’s saying that it will tell me anything I want to know and it will tell me in a manner that’s direct and to the point. This makes me smile ’cause I like things on the direct side! I look forward to working with these images and re-reading the book. I totally “get” how this is an Imagination Primer! When you look through the cards, there seems to be just a whisper of something… like when something is on the tip of your tongue…then your mind opens up and the information starts coming. If a blue print could come to life, it would look like this deck… that’s what I think!
Each character tells his or her story in the book and the deck provides the visual aid to get your head in gear… I just don’t know how else to explain this so, I sure hope this makes sense!
Note the solidity of your movements now, post-completion. How does that enhance your connections, your sense of connection?
solid completion at hand, prosperity, close relationships, ability to share
Thanks much for visiting!
What wonderful solid completions have you accomplished of late? Have you built a solid sense of self with healthy boundaries in one area or another that further enhances, reinforces, and supports your well-being? Have you made deadline and knocked it out of the park recently in stellar style on something that you solidly value? Recently, or long ago of which you’re proud? Let me know in the comments below. I’d love to hear your perspective.
I don’t believe in chaos, as Nature does not know chaos. I asked it. It grimaced with a chuckle. I gather it, consequently, doesn’t have order, either. It wouldn’t answer my question on that, though, the wind just gusted me to embrace that for myself. So, I feel Nature just is, it is just full-on is full-on itself in every way at every moment. That, I dig a lot. Not infinitely, just a lot. Nature’s a good role model in ways. At least I feel so, mostly. Not all, though certainly mostly. WIth the 7 of Pentacles I feel to describe it as Depths Beyond.
Wald Amberstone of The Tarot School in NYC (Ruth Ann & Wald Amberstone) penned Depth(s) of Above for This card which I firmly buy and that’s firmly (c) Wald Amberstone, especially with the mental gymnastic pun-flip of putting above ABOVE depth. I full-on resonate with that, and he gets full credit for that, though I call the 7 of Pents The Soul Gardener. The Soul Gardener with Depths from Beyond [(c) me] fertilized right into the earth as they amend their soil as they tend their bounty. I simply prefer Depth of Beyond,
Nature has weather, though I don’t personify the weather. The wind can be static-y and raise the hairs on the back of your neck and get you a bit stirred up, though the stirrer isn’t stirred up. It’s most likely just dry and blustery outside. Not such an admirable quality in people, though with wind, not much to judge or discern. Heck, if it’s raining, bring an umbrella. If sunny, bring a friend. Or, if you’re more like me, stand in the rain happy and hold your head and hands HIGH and feel it, and if with a friend, so much the better. I see people running in the rain, and it always perplexes me. I walk slower in the rain. I stop. I hold out or hold up my hands and look up into it. Ablution? Sometimes. I’m already soaked, so what’s the worry? It’s not like I can get MORE soaked. Plus, I’m made of mostly water anyway, and frantically running might cause me to slip and fall. I don’t care about the ‘getting hurt’ part of that. If I slip and fall, I’ll most likely stop enjoying the rain while I recover. I choose that I enjoy it, and protect that by embracing the enjoyment.
Oh, was that supposed to be a secret? Pardon if I don’t step that back. I pick up lotsa rocks to see what hides under them and bring Shadow to light, or just provide the unseen as a complement to the seen, the unknown to the known, in respect of the Shadow. And, I often continue the disciplines I discover there for decades. Hey, I’m a polymath. “Jack of all trades, master of none,” you say? Nope, you see, that’s not the whole quote. That’s a convenient sound byte often utilized to dismiss people when they are multi-talented and have developed those talents into abilities and someone wants clear and concise and… boringly only bottom line simple. Not much value in that from where I sit. The full quote? “Jack of all trades, master of none, is often a more effective ally than a master of one.” Or, some such similar gig.
Oh, and if I’m talking about Nature and numbers and shapes (please click. There is a stunning and beautiful and inspiring video by Cristobal Villa!… always soundS like Crystal Ball Villa/House when I say it. Cool name either way. Almost as cool as his videos),
Ok, numbers and shapes and this and that. I really ought to go ahead and say it. I really ought to being the earth to bear in a 7 of Pentacles way from a solid Pentacles depth beyond. Ok. I’ll say it. The earth is round. No, really. Am I trying to be deceptively simple? Nope. That comes from a solid depth beyond. How do I substantiate that? Hmmm, which example shall I choose? OH! This one!: If the earth were flat, the cats would have already knocked everything off of it by now. Right?!

If you’ve come down this far, a blast from the Mystereum past surprise is in the 6 of Pents link below. Enjoy.
The Tarot of Marseille is not the name of an individual deck of cards. The name refers to a style of Tarot decks that originated in France. The earliest existing example is The Jean Noblet Tarot. published in Paris, circa 1650. Tarot historian, Giordano Berti, tells us that the name was officially given to the deck in […]
fire of life, life-acumen, actively energetic clarity directed to attract wants
The Queen of Wands is a Magical Mirroring, the full energetic clarity of empathy with the natural leadership of not dissolving one’s boundaries as a chameleon… the full energetic clarity of far-seeing vision right in the moment wise in time in the moment. The Queen of Wands. True empathy without handing yourself over to the other. The Queen of Wands. True and full and confident perspective with natural leadership through and through.
~ END OF BLOG. The below is reference material from The Presence of the Priestess.” …except for a couple of… minor, experiential edits.~
The High Priestess plays 10 parts in The Land of Mystereum, 10 very specifically different roles. This came about from the amazing breadth and great deal of work I felt The High Priestess performs naturally in her role as the one who gives form to the formless. Tha Magician sparked inception, whereas The High Priestess then form-gave conception. It felt very natural to let the presence of the Priestess naturalize itself throughout these 9 perennial cards in The Land of Mystereum.
1. The High Priestess appearance. As herself The High Priestess gives form to the formless connected to ground and sky, above and below? Conception. A visual story of an out-of-body experience or across-every-scale as a natural and total mode for this card.
2. The Empress appearance. The High Priestess golden and pregnant connected not to ground and sky here, but to the two Empress Yoni-verse trees, carrying out the function she began in the completion of the task of The Empress’ “carrying to full term.”
3. The Temperance appearance. We see The High Priestess’ unconscious workings, the creature forces of the unconscious, brought forth into the light of day to layer in another dimension of vast connection. The vast connection of above with below. The vast connection of unconscious with conscious. Temperance then as a metaphor for unconscious contents utilized naturally and consciously?
4. The Moon appearance. The Priestess up close focuses on the drawing-down-the-moon ritual.
5. The 6 of Pentacles appearance, 2 of her. The epic spiral of giving and receiving. The Priestess sisters as two facets of her personality in more casual black and lavendar robe garb to continually spin-juggle Pentacle-worlds in this epic exchange.
6. The 6 of Wands appearance. The Priestess, having drawn down the moon resonates from its other side to cascade an exchange of new energies down into your process. Papesse? As, here The High Priestess is performing what is traditionally a Hierophant function of bringing spirit to the earth, yet in your Wands, in your Minor Arcana, in your everday life. Present in the Minors is the Priestess exalting new qualities to enliven your down-to-earth spirit?
7. The Queen of Wands appearance. Sees through mirage clearly and naturally. Feels the full-on whole ‘nother world in a simple reflection. Life inside the mirror, a whole ‘nother universe there? Note, though, that the reflections here are not symmetrical reversing one another like in a traditional mirror. Mirror mirror on the wall . . . with NO competition. The Priestess plays this Queen with her mirror-magic of above and below, outside the mirror and at one and the same time within yourself. The High Priestess focuses identity here to express a magical and clear nature in her energetic vision. The High Priestess is wholly transformed here. Suffice it to say, The Queen of Wands Gets ‘er done! NOW THE MAGICAL MIRRORING OF NATURAL AND FULL-ON EMPATHY.
8. The Queen of Cups appearance. And, in The Queen of Cups the Priestess fulfillingly emerges from her cup, fulfillment carried to full term? She is akin to a living Nautilus in the sea of emotion present to brightly wash through like great weather. Also, have you noticed the Calla Lily energy coming from her hands as she moves through these cards? The Calla Lily. One of the few asymmetrical flowers. Beautiful. SO stunningly beautiful a flower.
9. King of Cups appearance. And, The High Priestess finishes her World Tour 2010 of The Land of Mystereum emerging as the emotionally infused strength emanating from the King of Cups’ bicep. That goes places for me. More than Jungian anima, the female spirit within the male. More a mindbodybeautiful strength present in this King.
Oh, and Lest We Miss Subtlety

10. The World appearance in a slideshow of The High Priestess, The World, and Strength. One of those hands up top in The World belongs to The High Priestess… and by the way, the other comes from Strength. Which is which?
This post was originally
This post was originally The Presence of the Priestess. Reminiscing on creating Mystereum… I drew 2 cards. The 7 of Pentacles from the top Stone Card and The Magican pulsing as the heartbeat of the 7 of Pentacles from the bottom Treasure Card.
quiet watchfulness, pause, higher sight within an above, “Depth of Above” (c) The Tarot School. “Depth of Beyond” (c) 2019 Jordan Hoggard
intuition, forming, giving form to the formless, conception (to the Mag’s inception), fully grounded out-of-body experiences as a matter of course naturally
I feel that with the High Priestess’ grounded out of body experience coupled with the Queen of Wands and then those two coupled with the 7 of Pentacles and The Magician… it feels like I received a glimpse of eternity. It feels like I received an Inner Yod, the address of God. I wonder if that address shows up on Google Maps? 😉
Hope you have enjoyed this segment
Hope you have enjoyed this segment of The Land of Mystereum Image Lineage as part of “The Presence Of” series where Major Arcana characters make a variety of appearance both bold and subtle throughout The Land of Mystereum! Till Next Time.
The World plays 2 parts in The Land of Mystereum, 2 very similar roles. It of course plays its full role in its card home address at 21 Archetype Avenue in The Land of Mystereum. Plus, The World makes a vignette appearance as a wormhole, a portal to other worlds in… see the examples below. This came about from a nod to the Mystereum Quaternal Brother Kings being overheard saying in unison, “The view through the looking glass at the top of our obelisk has special meaning for Mystereum’s Royal Court. They see the top of the obelisk as a looking glass to see the infinite world of your next cycle. They also see the top of our obelisk as a powerful portal between worlds. You see, they feel it is also a connection to the afterlife that they use regularly each time they finish their large works. The call the top of the obelisk “The Portal of the Seamless Segue,” or PotSS for short. They say that in each joyful completion of a cycle it gives you a glimpse of eternity.”~ excerpt from the Tarot in the Land of Mystereum Imagination Primer companion book, page 71.
1. The XXI World appearance. The World of course appears first as itself in its home at 21 Archetypal Avenue in The Land of Mystereum as a view up from inside an obelisk. Explore the Priestess and Strength articles in this “Presence of” series to plus out some of the subtle features up top.
2. The 9 of Pentacles appearance. Judgment also appears in the 9 of Pentacles as a vignette in the form of a wormhole. Ask yourself, “Why would this PotSS appear here in the 9 of Pentacles?” <——- The video link there might shed some light on it… or… take you there to reveal a secret. Make sure you get a reflective kitchen spoon out before you watch so you can play along.
overlaps, finery, naturalized, established solid dynamism

Hope you have enjoyed this segment of The Land of Mystereum Image Lineage as part of “The Presence Of” series where Major Arcana characters make a variety of appearance both bold and subtle throughout The Land of Mystereum! There is another segment coming out in this series about the Majors that appear as singles rather than cameo-ing their adventures throughout Mystereum, and then a “Mini Mystereum Encyclopedia Road Map of Travels Maquette”… LOL, a Table of Contents for this series. Then, we’ll be on to the “Presence of” the symbols in The Land of Mystereum.
Judgment plays 2 parts in The Land of Mystereum, 2 very specifically different roles of the exact same feature. This came about from a nod to ….2… throughout The Land of Mystereum. See the 2 examples below.
practical, down to earth, nurturingly nourishing with exquisiteness just so

The Moon plays 17 parts in The Land of Mystereum, 17 very specifically different roles. This came about from a nod to the importance of the moon in half of our everyday life, as a nod to mystery and light from unseen sources, and from those times when the moon is more than half of our everyday life when it ventures out as a day sky moon. Enjoy the path of the moon in your own life as you explore the adventures that The Moon takes throughout The Land of Mystereum.
1. The XVIII The Moon appearance. The Moon of course appears first as itself. Well, no it doesn’t. Interesting, The Moon doesn’t appear first as itself. The Moon began in The High Priestess which pays an homage to The Moon receiving its light from an unseen source, its true nature only discovered later. Here the Priestess returns to emanate herself from the Lotus flower as a sacred gesture of welcoming The Moon to take its place and live in its natural, archetypal home.
2. The I Magician appearance. The Moon appears in The Magician as a solar eclipse, or is it an inner eclipse inside the sun of the Magician’s Self?
Notice the eclipse WITHIN the sun, and the magically watching eye-wings as vision to take you new places… focus so intense that it dilates time to open
intuition, forming, giving form to the formless, conception (to the Mag’s inception), fully grounded out-of-body experiences as a matter of course naturally
4. The V Hierophant appearance. The Moon begins to rise over the pyramid. Is the Hierophant in front of the pyramid? Or, is he within the pyramid and we see silent waters swum running deep both from and below him? Is that a UFO up there? Well, look at that. And, the UFO is.. oh, look at that… it’s actually built OF these little people. I guess a down-to-earth spirit flies its own craft.
Notice all the little people up and down HieroDood… wisdom, new spirit, activation, down-to-earth spirit
5. The IX Hermit appearance. The Moon is Full behind The Hermit’s vision that puzzle-pieces the night and day sky together.
Memory illuminating forward, inner light, perspective from experience, silent awareness
6. The X Wheel appearance. The Crescent Moon parses out golden sunlight as it imprints its Full Moon symbol at the top of The Wheel’s wheel. I wonder with those lavender sky-rings… Are we in the world under The Hanged Man or the Ace of Wands here?
epochal-cycle, Om–Libra-ohm punning, complete cycles, full orbits, luck
7. The XVI Tower appearance. The Moon peeks in. Front row Box seats for The Moon as The Fool returns to a home riding his Golden Pillars of the Fabric of life. The Moon has a front row seat as The Fool reurns to a home growing wildly out of control to lightning-speak the truth and blast it to the ground fertilizing The Phoenix. Wait. What is that coming out of the lightning truth emerging out of The Tower below? My my. That’s no fiery Phoenix. That’s The Chariot character! Go figure a Birth Card Brother would come out of something as powerful as the Fool’s labor in this birth. Guess The Fool knew the Tower wanted a brother, huh? Hmmm, maybe not a Tower’s brother at all. It’s YOU, only NEW that comes out the other side of this.
big change, world-altering, emancipating
8. The XIX Sun appearance. The Moon, again eclipsed in The Sun as with The Magician above. The powerful lunar eclipse AS the Sun’s 3rd eye, AS the 3rd Eye of Identity. As your identity becomes focused, your intuition emanates more strongly. With these two working together naturally, odds are you are an Oracle.
who you were when you were born, Self, return, identity, bright success in context
9. The Ace of Wands appearance. The Ace of Wands Hermit-Vision opens up the night to flow into the day with depth as The Moon synchromeshes side by side with the Sun across the twilight that this Ace of Wand’s Hermit-Vision has magically made.
Shakin’Your Inner Booty scribes a new world, new life, place-making, enthusiasm
10. The 2 of Wands appearance. The Moon is a day sky moon. And, fractally faceted all over the… WAIT! There are so many moons in the night sky. Whatever is one to do? That’s confusing! That’s what the Moon is here for. Here, the Moon visually dispells madness so that one may choose the best energy for themself, so that…. The Moon is here in the Ace of Wands to visually dispel madness so that one can see not to make lots of little things appear like one, big thing. This is energetic decision-time here. The word is “unconfusion.”
the savante of Self along the curved arc forming the circle for the first time. Beware perceiving many little things as one big thing. Let those infinite many mini-chords be the experience of a curved arc until…
11. The 6 of Wands appearance. The Moon along with the Priestess arrive to 6’s-style cascade an exchange of energies to re-resonate these Wands now past their half-way point along your particular adventure.
victory, glory, overcoming obstacles so new energies cascade in
12. The 7 of Wands appearance. There is high noon when the Western gunfights happened. Here their is high moon when the time to go in headlong regardless of the odds presents itself. Why would gunfights be at high noon you might curiously ask? Never read this anywhere, though not casting shadows is a great way to see exactly who is faster and more accurate. Shadows are longer and longer one way or the other depending on how far away they are from noon. That would also mean they move faster than YOU actually move making them. Kind of like your hand and elbow. Place your hand on your chest. Now, extend your hand and stretch out your arm all the way. Look at that! Your hand went twice as far as your elbow in the same amount of time. Your hand would be the shadow at any time other than noon. Talk about subtle movements turning into being full-on telegraphed. Justice at high noon as the speed is what it is without distorting factors… then there’s the accuracy. The intuition of this Moon lights the way through the path of the odds here.
decisive action, strategies, taking charge, going in regardless of the odds
13. The 8 of Wands appearance. The Moon in the 8 of Wands. Field sports? A ball flying through the air? Things are up in the air in a positive way… like moonbeams. 8’s are like an open and expansive plateau. Open your hands to BE the infinity of receiving, your palms AS the plateau.
up in the air in a positive way like moonbeams, energy across a plateau like field sports
14. The 9 of Wands appearance. The preparation is complete with the 9 of Wands. A single barn truss stands. As people arrive, they bring their own, and another, and another. Son, a long-house is created, the long-house of a get-together. The Moonlights the place where this preparation has been completion. “Ding dong” you hear. Get the door. Time to get the party started!
15. The 10 of Wands appearance. The Moon appears as the eye of the cockatiel, the interested cockatiel with raised headfeathers. The Moon is in the 10 of Wands sights, the Sun brightening the unknown behind him. He himself, between the Sun and the Moon IS himself the magical twilight of the space between. He himself IS the Psychic Synapse. The Moon is here to play its part dancing with the Sun to create the magical twilight for this Cirque du Soleil character to inhabit.
balanced courage, agility, grace with all you carry
16. The Page of Wands appearance. The Moon… so far away yet touching his left hand. It’s a critical touch to have in a strong situation like this where the Hierophant lives on one side of this Page’s wand fully infusing the it, and Strength lives on the other side of it doing much the same… both giving and receiving through the Page’s wand at one and the same time.
rush of excitement, adventure, risk
17. The Knight of Wands appearance. The Moon IS this newborn’s vision, the vision of this Knight upon awakening. The Moon informing him to make his wand into egg teeth and crack-hatch from this house. The crack and broken house are not hard-to-mend damage. They indicate an awakening, an energetic awakening opening up more naturally to oneself while on the move. Knights realize things atop their horse rather than atop their tatami mats. The house of this Knight’s experiences did not build his character. They warmed him to reveal it.
unfamiliar actions, strangely highlighted energies in feelings, awakening, regally emerging anew in playful ways
