Love it! Mode of Being Formed at 3 1/2!

Love it! You reminded me of when I strolled into the kitchen when I was 3 1/2 in my diaper or shorts or whatever with no shirt. I politely asked my parents, “Do you want to go to Funland?” The response came back, “No, Jordan, not today, we’re making lunch.” “Ok.” And, out the door I went. They thought I was going to go play in the carport. Nope. I was not asking for permission. I was being polite, asking them if they wanted to go with me. So, down the drive and around the corner, and up a couple of blocks to the highway I went. Walked along the highway for a mile or so to arrive at FUNLAND!! WOO HOO! Funland. It was a local them park with bumper cars and cotton candy and ring toss and… THE FERRIS WHEEL. I LOVED the Ferris wheel. Tiny one, not a big one. It was big enough for me as I was 3 1/2. This is before cell phones, like 1971 or some such. My parents get a call… “Little Jordy is safe on the Ferris wheel, and we’ll keep him here, but where are you?”

Exceptions to the Rules

🙂 Yes, you’re not supposed to scare your parents. But, no one said anything about terrifying them. So, scroll forward. OH BOY YES was I in trouble. It’s funny how you learn limits and some boundaries are set. Though, I did NOT like that much at all. In fact! The very next morning, same attire, I packed my Snoopy suitcase and ran away. I mean, what else could I do. They exiled my sovereignty. Common! I was 3 1/2 and I had a world to attend to! 😉

I give you a place of your own to clearly float fully supported in your mind activating your crown chakra. Chrysalis, fully afloat in supportive clarity.

I Made It

I made it to the curb. Started crying. Sat down. The neighbor, a local newspaper editor came and sat next to me. “Well, Jordie, what’s the trouble? Why are you crying?” I remember the glare I shot her, and then I softened to, sobbing again, “Because I’m running away!” She smiled and softly said, “So, what’s the problem? Why so sad? That sounds like freedom.” Wiping off the tears I pursed my lips… “Yes! Not NOW! This morning they said I’m not allowed to cross the street by myself!”

When In

When in trying times, how can you step back to be more present within? How can you see through the expectation blind spots of the good and the bad? How do you discern the workability in a situation, crisis, discussion, argument, predicament, and/or danger?

When you do that, when you discern the workability in the situation rather than the blamestorming crisis-mongering… how are you able to better dial into continual solutions and resolutions? And, first off, how can you breathe, and simply discern that you do not have to attend every argument or conflict you are invited to?

Does someone stir something up within you? Cool. Can you put the clutch in when you get triggered, and simply use that energy to listen more intently without a peep? Or, without even a reaction rippling your serenity? I don’t suggest to forget it of course. I do, though, in fact suggest to remember it fully. Honor it. Revere it even. And, after the conversation, where you did NOT react to the trigger… go forward with yourself and engage that trigger… and… listen to THAT with as much amplified awareness as you did the person who triggered you. Listen to your Inner Parts. They need voice. And, when they arrive, something, a trigger or other, gave them an open portal. That often means they are ready to engage… Can you NOT engage them directly? Can you simply listen and experience what they need to jump around and stomp all over about? Let them. They may have coupled up Psyche Cabin Fever. Give them berth. When their storm passes… they may have a message for you after… but, only after you listen in Empathic Silence I find.

So,What’s This ImaginAction Thing?

ImaginAction began as a challenge to myself In 2012. I wanted to design another original Tarot Spread. And, then I thought, Cool. And, how limiting is that?! One spread? That’s like someone in a relationship saying they’ll die for you. WHAT?! No. No. Do you hear what you;re saying? All you have to do is do that once, and I’m left with the bag of moving forward. How ‘bout LIVE for YOU, and let’s rock it together? You do that once? Nope, that doesn’t give me warm tingles of support. I feel that’s a cop-out.

Yup, There’s an Intent

But, how does that intent come across? What’s expressed there? Excellent, an undying love… but, by dying? Look I’m into the light in the dark and vice versa which is a Both-And and certainly not dualism. Was there an intent to devotion and want to be with someone? Plus, why do you want to die for me?

Sure. It’s expressing a magnetic connection of how far you’d go, though, how about go to right here, right now, and look your troubles in the eye, and in Silent Empath wholebody hearing them out find both their message and inherent opportunity for workability they offer by enhancing you as you enhance them listening to one another?

I won’t go into how that kind of gesture may be hopped on limerance or infatuation or other sell-me-the-whole-farm in a single statement kinda thing a bit like a used car salesman with good intentions. Commitment includes tomorrow + we’ll also never know the future, and adaptability, together.

So, What Was All That Up There? ???!!!

That? That was what went through my head in that series of moments in 2012 when this portion of my work began? I was 10 months out from publishing Tarot in the Land of Mystereum with Schiffer Publications in Feb of 2011. 2012 was coming to a close, and I was a gestation cycle of working and resting my bigger works to rejuvenate their well. It spoke to me not about that single death-creative-event-one-off-quick-fix. It spoke to me about how designing one spread was cool and all. People do it all the time. There’s no requirement for how few or many you create and make, or any at all. But, the shallow roots of the quick fix? Nah, that’s not my gig to just skip stones on the top of the water to get to the other side. I’ll dive deep and literally go to the other side.

Series Work

The fact that I work much better in series work, the long-form processes where I complete many things along the way. Where I explore a theme. Where I set off on a path in a direction whether I blaze a trail or not. I don;t compete with myself. Because, if I win, I just beat myself. That kinda cancels shit out, huh?

I firmly feel that expression from Morihei Ueshiba directly applies to how we treat ourselves. And, that day, I wasn’t competing with myself. I felt a self-born challenge being built like clay on a potter’s wheel becoming as raw earth is made into something with water and air, and ultimately to be tempered so to speak in the fire. If you’re a vessel, you stop there. If you’re a sword, you have the added opportunity to explode when taken straight from the fire into the cold and clean water. You make that, you get the heat and I’ll dip to bring out your textures.

A Challenge Built

I get it, I said. I see. I feel what’s up. In regards to spreads 78 is an arbitrary number that has to do with the card count in a deck. Heck, why not? Stick to them. Rip that number out into the crucible Heat of the challenge. Do 78 spreads. 78 original spreads inspired BY your artwork, and WITH the artwork integral in them rather than molted like a snake skin after. No chrysalis here. Transform this here in the open.

So

So in that series of moments I decided to do 78 original Tarot spreads in 78 days. No exceptions. Hard deadlines them all. No multiples. No inter-relationship directly in the making except one 78-part community. Each would open up an ablution pool of its own world for people to immerse in and heck… can I do a Tarot spread where you don’t even need cards? What about a Tarot spread for people who could give a rat’s ass about Tarot?

So

So, I did. They were sale for a short bit as a package deal Of only the spreads, though wonderfully, 10 months later they went dormant. Went back to where they came from? Nope. It was time for me to garden some more, literally. Hands in the dirt with dahlias and roses and pansies and creeping time and building a stone walking path through the garden to the car and (pointy orange glowing things), and a 7th generation heirloom fern peony. The spreads were simply the proper beginning of a great seed for me.

Went to Sleep

Those spreads went to sleep for 7 years. Nascent. Dormant. Dormant, until 2 weeks before the 3/19/20 shutdown where at 3a I bolted up awake to sit in the stark and steep in a wonderful and wordless joy. I love the way they dovetail together in the process of ImaginAction‘s birth.

Q: What is ImaginAction? What if I don’t get this Tarot and Divination thing?

R (response): Excellent. Do you meditate or enjoy when you are invigorated when at peace, like a walking meditation or just getting in the zone, your zone? Do you work with mindfulness or clarity or directly getting to the point? Oh, then this is certainly not for you with all those words up E. Shaking head. You can take a joke, right? What do you get?

R2: Oh, I get it when things are clear and valuable and there was a solid reason to do them.

R: Cool. ImaginAction is just for you. Stare into the paintings with your question in mind. Say it out loud as you slide into Empathic Silence. Just listen. I know, right? 3 whole minutes? 4? That’s an eternity to be quiet and not be getting something done. Really? Is it? How long are your breaks? What do you come back from them with?

R2: I come back refreshed.

R: Excellent. I’m gathering the eSpa of these 78 Ablution Pools will do at least that, though most likely… well, I’ll have to let you jump in and see for yourself. I’d say what’s to lose at the price of a coffee, though I can’t devalue the eSpa that way. Looking forward to trying it.

Sometimes off-trail so to speak, most often that off-trail is a myth in the creative process as you’re still experiencing from my perspective. Heck, going to a hot spring… is often off-trail. Going down a long dead end road, and finding a perspective or jewel or landscape vista or new inner vista from the experience? Immersing in ablution and having your own Inner Inheritances make you their executor In the Ablution Pools? Worth it to me. I’ll look forward to see the worth to you. It doesn’t seem a stretch to say, to see the value of you increase. Heck, Talk a good game, but can’t box when the mouths close? Nah, doesn’t apply here.

Thief!

You see, several years back, maybe 10?, No, it was 9. It was 2011 when Schiffer published Tarot in the Land of Mystereum: An Imagination Primer Tarot deck and 192-page book boxed set. It was the last time I connected with my Dad before he had Parkinson’s, which soon became full boat. We had THAT conversation. It wasn’t about the birds and the bees, though it certainly had to do with Nature… OUR Natures fully in play together.. that wonderful, family alchemy time…

Dad: I don’t buy into all this Tarot and Astrology pseudoscience stuff. You really need to be careful about indulging in that. Do you care about your career as an Architect?

Me: (laughing and laughing and laughing some more to pause… and then laugh some more to the point that he steeped into the ablution immersion pool with…

Dad: Well now Jordan, whatever has tickled you so much?

Me: (coming to an ebb in my laughter for long enough to…) You. You, Dad.

Dad: Well, I wasn’t being funny. This is serious business. I respect this deck thing you’ve created for its consistency of 78 painting in a painting series, though that’s that.

Me: LOL, Dad, maybe not as serious as you know, That is certainly not that.

Dad: Well, what do you mean by that? This IS serious. I care about you. I don’t want you toddling off over these cliffs and mucking up your life.

Me: Well, 1st off, why the affected pause of ‘Well,” every time you try to step up? Secondly, (holding hand palm forward), You’ve had plenty of time Mr. Mentor/Tormentor. You’ve always cared, inside, though you didn’t take it to out here except in word and action. Where’s the feeling filling those two with fuel made of simple courage? So, I will. I will right now. Thirdly, I toddled dafuq off when at 4 1/2 and 5 1/2 I had 13 1/2 and 16 hour major surgeries at the Mayo clinic. You were there. Do you remember the oxygen tent I was in for 10 days the 2nd time? Do you remember them putting me in the “playroom” at night because my screaming nightmares Which usually squeezed out a turd I was so clenched like a human singularity that kept the other patients up? … and, that because of the HVAC balance the heat was NOT on in that room at night which meant thrown out in the cold, alone, all night, every night?

Me: And, finished counting, here’s the deal, Dad. You’re now Emeritus from a 40-year rockin’ career as a Professor of English, Creative writing, Poetry, British Lit, and Greek Tragedy with your precious Reason. Cool. Though, you know what’s cooler than that?

Dad: Well, sounds like I’m about to.

Me: (shaking head at another “Well, … ,”, though shaking it off)(pursed lips and raised eyebrows about to release, though holding for long enough to…) Dad, here’s the dealio. You’re basically a Senator, head of the Senate in fact pretty much at least from the back-room politics perspective, and you and yours stand there in your white robes clean and pressed and enamor yourself over alleged ideas while drunk on Reason. And then, to use your word, “well,” it happens.

Dad: WELL, what’s that? What happens?

Me: Someone asks you about your son, where he is now? What’s he doing? And, you pause in that way where you know that whatever comes after is made up bullshit duck-and-covering for a response by that person because you’ve chastised a thing, though not engaged a thing that they love. And, they, those people, smell it on you.

Dad: ??? Well… , well, I’ll be. How long have you been holding this pot shot?

Me: Nice try, Dad. Though stop playing checkers to my chess. How long? Wrong question. I haven’t been holding it. I’ve been living it. I’ve been living it my whole life up to this point. Here’s the deal. You and your Ancient Greek Reason Senate are there in the city in your safely enclosed and secure amphitheater with your dramaturgical intellectualism. Where’s your son? I’m at this little 40-mile town called Delphi running the place. And, I AM the Oracle. Maybe you’ve heard of it. Maybe you’ve heard of me. It’s not that I am Sovereign. It’s beyond that. Kings have to come ask me when they want to go to war.

I’ve never heard my Dad laugh so hard in such a connectedly earnest way before or after that moment. We connected. We connected in ways that covered all the omissions from both sides in a way where, in that moment, we knew. We knew not father and son. We knew two connected people in the same family. Us!

Then, fucking Parkinson’s began to take him away. I don’t expect that we would have connected much after that moment, wouldn’t need to. Being around someone where you both GET each other? That’s one of the examples of joy of family. No apologies. No explanation. Experiencing things together. He didn’t work that way, though. His support was unfailing, not dutiful, unfailing, and it was present, regardless. Regardless

The experiential, The poetic? Yes. There was a great 20-mile canoe trip we took together over a 3-day weekend. Then, when he waxed up over the top of too much MIND with It’s like you can hear the Ancient Ones speaking from up there in the tall mountain bluffs. I shook my head, could do no other than, DAD! ENOUGH with the simile. It’s not LIKE anything. I WAS listening to the Ancient Ones speaking… until YOU interrupted it!, and just dug a deep slap of my oar back from the front Of the canoe and splashed him… and we both howled laughing together. We’d both smile at the same things for wholly different reasons. We both knew. We both knew how to give each other room, and though oil and water never really cover the divide, we were (are) a solid oil and vinegar vinaigrette together. Just makes the salad better.

You just had to know, though, and play with the non-verbal actions of love rather than the words, though still… The words were there, though… too much I over we. That was/is his way, now struggling to find words.

Fuckin’ Parkinson’s Is stealing my Dad. He’s there. When I’m physically there, he’s not all MIND with conscious hide and seek feelings like before. His eyes speak what his mouth cannot, or as a Stoic, will not allow. Though, that here is almost all gone. That… Here is Gone.

I can’t not cry. Finally. I can’t not cry. It’s been 4 years coming. Not capping the well for 4 years, just that confusion that placates denial when you have already passed that point and come to terms with… that which you can’t as you live through it.

Let it dafuqin flow! The well is deep. Let it dafuqin flow!

Parkinson’s stole my Dad. We’ll unfortunately never have an Oracle or Ancient Ones canoe conversation like those again.
